The Potters Guild of B.C. is changing our Newsletter Advertising policies. We require pre-payment for all advertisements placed in the BCPOTTERS monthly newsletter. Payment can be arranged when first requesting and submitting an ad, either by phone or email. A secure form is also available on the website to facilitate transmission of sensitive info. This is an industry standard policy and we've had to learn the hard way that this is also the best poli- cy. Thank you for your under- standing. | £ wi al 5c Potters Mural, Cappadocia, Turkey Denys James Photo President's Message In this newsletter you will find our 2005 Annual Report. It covers what we achieved last year - and that was quite substantial. Although not all members could participate in each event, we tried to make sure that there was something for everyone. The manager of the Lougheed Mall has approached us to ask if we would organize a pottery event at that location. I am in the process of trying to line up a raku firing in the parking lot, coupled with a non-juried Pottery Market set up inside the mall. Members could rent a table for two days and sell their own work. Proceeds from the rental fee would go to the Guild as a fundraiser. To keep administration to a mini- mum, you would be responsible for your own table for both days. This event is tenta- tively set for the end of September or beginning of October. If anyone is interested in participating, please contact me for more details. Looking forward to 2007, Tanya Mitchell has taken on the task of organizing a replace- ment show for Made of Clay. With declining participation by members and declining sales, we must develop a new vision for this annual show if it is to continue. We are still aiming for an end of April or May event, but it will now be juried. Look in next month's newsletter for more details. Don't forget Project Empty Bowl, which takes place on June 1, is fast approaching. This is a fundraiser to provide meals to men, women and children living with AIDS. Contact Karen Opas if you have bowls to donate - we can also collect them at the gallery if that is easier for you. Please give lovely bowls - ones that people feel com- pelled to pick up and look at - it will help make this a more memorable event. I would like to say a special thank you to departing board members Jay MacLennan, Dave Kruyt and Stephanie Craig for their work and to welcome our newest board member Donna Partridge.
