AUG 13 1984 ‘V3C 2A8 dear Sirs: RE: Ozone Levels At a Special Council Meeting held July 19, 1984, a referral from the City's Environmental Protection Committee received unanimous endorsation. The following resolution is placed before you for consideration and possible endorsation: "WHEREAS there is an established Federal objective for the level of ozone; AND WHEREAS there js a concern to Federal, Provincial and Regional Government bodies, hence the recent formation of the Ozone Committee; AND WHEREAS these standards have been exceeded (Level A) on several occasions in recent years; AND WHEREAS the City of Port Moody has, in 1984, established a reporting procedure with the Pollution Control Department of the G.V.R.D. to notify when the Federal standard is exceeded; AND WHEREAS it is a documented medical fact that when any excedents of Level A occurs, the potential for further aggravation to those persons already suffering from respiratory ailments can take place; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT all other Lower Mainland municipalities be encouraged to also establish a similar reporting procedure for the safety, health and welfare of their citizens."
