The Mayor and Council April 17, 1974 Page Two Triple A fund raising ventures are carried out throughout the year and their estimated yield of $21,050 is a realistic, yet optimistic, projection, easily reduced by unfortunate chance. It is doubtful that many more fund raising efforts could be successfully brought off, although new sources of revenue are always being considered. Not yet taken into consideration in this submission is an almost certain application for Triple A membership by ¢ Port Coquitlam Amateur Boxing Clubs; a request whach according to our constitution and our understanding with city council, may not be rejected. -The constitution and bylaws of the Amateur Athletic Association were composed with considerable, and much appreciated, co-operation by representatives of the then elected council, and the original grant in aid of minor sport was given with the understanding that ALL eligible city froups be accepted. ‘Council's contribution, based on last year's $3.00 per capita grant, this year would total $11,178, still leaving Triple A with a deficit of $4,856 - a disheartening position for those faced with the task of providing the funds which allow so many city youngsters to enjoy countless hours of wholesome recreation. Councilts recent decision to increase arena rental rates by $2.00 per: hour has added heavily to the financial obligations of Triple A and helped place the Society on the horns of its present dilemma. We appeal to you to consider an increase in your per capita grant to $4.00 per participating child, which should give us - with reasonable success in our fund raising endeavours ~ a fighting chance at balancing our budget in 1974. Representatives of the Triple A executive will be available to appear at council's convenience, should more detailed information be desired. Yours very truly, a ee Mrs. Karin Reid, Secretary
