The Greig Ave. headquarters gives search and rescue more space for training, storage and fescue planning than the trailer they used before, said search and rescue president Dave Jephson. “Tt sets us up perfecily,’’ Jeph- son said. ‘*We’ve been pushing for this for the last two years, so we're really looking forward to usingit.”? The city leased the building for search and rescue and the Terrace Fire Department to share. One side of the building will store two firetrucks and a trailer containing foam because there’s no room at the main firehall. The rest is for the 75 search and res- cue volunteers. “The firehall needed the space to put the trucks, and search and rescue piggy-backed on it,’’ said Jephson, who is also a city firefighter. ‘‘The city was paying rent for the trailer we used before anyways, so it made sense.” A mezzanine was built to give each of the search and rescue ano BRAKE 7 , @ = teams (land, water, snow and cliff Value Added Service \ miu ae Eee, A Tescue) separate storage space for j rs Be eV “si gear. ) sep Be SP Starts May 23", Ends May 28" Vw cna a : —— The main area will be used for : GETTING A TASTE of what it would be like tobe strappedintoa meetings and training exercises | 4526 Greig Avenue search and rescue combination stretcher and basket is Nicholas —_}jke rope tying, gear maintenance Terrace.
