B16 - The Terrace Standard, eis anes jas a Off-roaders hit rain a By Mike Cox MUD AND SWEAT were out in full force at the Red Sand Root Shoot off-road cycling race May 23-24, But the rain didn’t stop off-roaders from enjoying the competition. Adam — Spensicy, of McBike, said the conditions weren’t the greatest, but it made for a great race. “You don’t really notice the weather when you're in the bush anyways,’ he said. Even with the muddy con- ditions, Spensley said the course wasn’t as challeng- ing as he thought. “Ys a pretty mellow course for what I’m used to riding, but I’m into crazier things I guess,’’ he said. Spensley placed second in Wednesday, June 2, 1999 the men’s sport class along with two of his co-workers at McBike. The 16 and under category had the largest turn-out at the Terrace Off-Road Cy- cling Association (TORCA) and McBike sponsored race. That shows the popularily of offroad cycling in Ter- race, Spensley added. *T think it’s great that kids are having the chance to get out there and do some riding,’” Spensicy said. Jon Lambert, from All Seasons, placed first in the expert category and said the muddy conditions were a challenge. “The course was preity sloppy so I couldn’t get up to full speed,” The Terrace Rod & Gun Club is proud to offer another Youth Shooting Program t Red Sand ADAM SPENSLEY demonstrates his trick-riding skills at the Red Sand Root Shoot May 23-24.
