SUBJECT: 1989 Pitch-In Campaign

Recommendation:

That Council proclaim the weekené of May 6th ané 7th to be "PoCo Pride
Days" in conjunction with the Pitch-In Campaign, and that this proclamation be
advertised in the local newspapers with the cost covered by the Environmental
Protection budget.

Background and Comments:

The week of May lst through May 7th has been designated as Pitch-In Week.

is expected that a number cf schools and community groups will be
organizing the pick-up of litter during the weekend of May 6th and 7th. The
Committee recommends that this weekend be proclaimed as "PoCo Pride Days" and
Chat residents be encouraged to clean-up litter in the City during this
weekend, whether they are Part of the organized Pitch-In Campaign or not. In
Order to encourage participation it is recommended that advertisements be
Placed in the local newspapers during the previous week. The cost of the ads
is not expected to exceed $500.
