COUN JAN 14 1980 Mayor and Council ' January 11, 1980, MEMORANDUM L.D. Pollock, City Administrator. Re: Carnival Rides for May Day Attached is a copy of a Draft Agreement from West Coast Amusement Limited to operate the rides for the 1980 May Day Celebrations. We have contracted with West Coast in the past, however for the last two or three years we have used Wagner Shows. Wagner were not availabie this year for the particular days that the May Day Committee have set. We have reviewed the contract and it would appear to be adequate. The only major difference is that in the past Wagner Shows have contributed $400.00 to the May Day Committee to cover trophies in lieu of paying a business licence. This arrangement had been in effeet for a number of years with the May Day Committee. This particular contract has a provision for the contractor paying the City a business licence and he is leaving it up to the City to sort this out with the May Day Committee. In this regard as it has been the practice in the past to . have this equivalent sum paid to the May Day Committee, for trophies I. would expect chat Council would agree to this same provision. The sum would be $480.00 for the three day show. The sum stipulated in che contract of $2,800.00 is up from last years amount of $2,500.00. An alternative of percentage of the gate was proposed however, based on last years Carnival revenue it is considerably better to go on the basis of the $2,800.00 flat fee as proposed. I would recommend that Council apfrove the signing of this contract. ny - a Prd Cera L.D. Pollock, LDP/al City Administrator, Attach,
