November 5th, 1979. #LAC, Nov. 2/79 From the Leisure Activities Committee, November 2nd, 1979 recommending . 7re Fire Ladder *Wagon.— Sun that the Fire Ladder Wagon be retained for park use; that the engine be Valley Park taken out and auctioned off; and that all breakable fixtures on the vehicle be secured in such a manner that the vehicle will be safe for children to play on. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That as recommended by the Leisure Activities Committee, November 2nd, 1979 the Fire Ladder Wagon be retained for park use; That the engine be taken out and auctioned off; That all breakable fixtures on the vehicle be secured in manner that the vehicle will be safe for children to play on; AND THAT the Fire Ladder Wagon be placed in Sun Valley Park. Carried Prior to the question being called on the foregoing resolution the Recreation Director showed slides of the fire truck located in Moody Park in New Westminster and discussion ensued. Mrs. Karen Phillips spoke to Council regarding the petition to have the Fire Ladder Wagon located in Sun Valley Park and suggested the location of the fire truck be by the swings. Alderman Mabbett referred to the request by the residents, as stated in the letter under date of November 3rd, 1979, for removal of the tarmac located in the park and stated this could be carried out. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That as requested by the residents in the Sun Valley Park area in the letter dated November 3rd, 1979 the tarmac in the Sun Valley Park be removed. Discussion ensued on Evergreen Park in the NuWest Development subdivision and Alderman Mabbett advised when the park is completed to the City's specifications the City would assume responsibility for the Park.
