October 21st, 1974 Mrs. MacDonald stated the. «he Association did not object to the proposed M-3 zoning, but did object to the uncertainty of what would be going in there. The City Planner commented that the proposed M-3 zoning is a compromise to reduce the industrial impact, and that he was opposed to further residential development in that area. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That as recommended in a joint report from the Planning & Zoning and Industrial Development Committees, October 3rd, 1974, the Westerly triangular portion of the Huntington Rubber Ltd. property bounded bv Davies Avenue on the North, the Coquitlam River on the East, and the Canadian Pacific Railway mainline on the South, be rezoned to the newly created M-3 (Special Industrial) Zone. Carried. Aldermen Laking and Traboulay voted against the resolution. Alderman Traboulay inquired of Mr. Cross, repre:anting Huntington Rubber Ltd., whether or not the present building would be upgraded, and Mr. Cross advised that it would be substantially improved so that it would be compatible with the new form of zoning proposed for the Westerly parcel. Ald. Laking re duties on Industrial Committee Alderman Laking then stated he wished to be relieved of his duties on the Industrial Committee, and His Worship the Mayor agreed to consider the request.
