Elections B.C. investigation
of last winter’s campaign
drags on too long,

Forensic auditor Ron
Parks was named Sept. 18
by Elections B.C. to
determine whether correct
spending and contribution
disclosures were made by
campaigns fighting for and
against recall of Giesbrecht
and two other MLAs.
| The move came a day
' after stories in the Van-
c
\ couver Sun that character-
‘ ized the recall defence
campaigns as ‘covert oper-
ations’? controlled by Vic-
toria.

Sexton said locals might
have to take action if it ap-
pears the investigation will
lake too long.

“There wouldn't be any
| point in having this drag on
' for another two years be-
cause we could be into an
election by then,’’ Sexton
said.

He said a number of mem-
bers of the campaign that
| worked to recall Giesbrecht
is ready to do it all again,

another recall but if it’s nec-
cessary we might consider it
as an option,’’ Sexton said.

He woulda’t say how long
would be too Jong for the in-
vestigation to reach a con-
clusion.

give the process time.

If Giesbrecht is found to
have violated the recall
regulations the penalty
could include his seat being
' declared vacant.

Sexton said Giesbrecht
could save everyone a lot of
trouble by resigning im-
mediately.

have voted 86 per cent to
accept a new contract with
Kentucky Fried Chicken
outlets in B.C.

The vote, taken Sept. 16,
approves a three-year deal
giving wage increases cach
year as well as increases in
laundry allowances (to wash
their uniforms) and RRSPs.

The wage increase aver-
ages out to approximately
15 cents an hour each year.

The details in the coilec-
tive agreement will apply to
all 72 KFC stores in B.C,
and tiot just the 47 storcs
where employecs are
represented by unions.
