For the women, it was a three-team round robin with the top two meeting © in a sudden death con- test, Rupert won their side by beating Kitimat Luso 5-3, picking up a 1-0 default win over Gitan- maax, and blanking Kispiox 8-0. Kitimat Luso was the other team to advance due to a two- win, one-loss record. On the other side, Greenville Athletic Club ran up three wins in a row, 6-1 over Canyon City, 3-1 over Terrace, and 3-1 over Hazelton. Terrace also advanced to the playoffs on a two- win, one-loss mark. In the semi-finals for men, Greenville eliminated Kitimat Luso 5-0 while Rupert was downing Terrace 2-1. In the championship game, Rupert ran up a 3-0 lead by halftime and then coasted to a 5-2 victory. In the women’s series, Terrace started by shut- ting out Kitimat Pan- thers 2-0. Kitimat then came back and posted a 2-1 win over Prince Rupert. The third game saw Rupert and Terrace play to a 1-1 draw. Ter- race and Kitimat advanc- ed to the final, where Terrace scored the game’s only goal in over- time for a I-0 victory. The Kitimat Panthers were awarded a special trophy for sportsmanlike behavior. Police report Thomsen appointed The B.C, Games Society has announced that Glenn Thomsen has been appointed provin- cial advisor for ‘men’s curling in future winter games. Thomsen, who is Ter- race manager. of Williams Moving and Storage Ltd., was equip- ment and facilities co- ordinator for the Winter Games held here in February and March, takes over his new duties now. Basically, it means Thomsen will organize each zone for playdowns and visit host com- munities to approve or disqualify facilities plan- ned for use.
