September 9, 1977 Soccer union marshalls - arguements for board NEW YORK (AP)- Representatives of the North American Soccer League and the newly- formed NASL Players’ Association, an offshoot of the National Football League Players’ Association, presented arguments Thursday before National Labor Relations Board officer Richard A Ross. , Ed Garvey, the executive director of the NFLPA and the main force behind the organization of the soccer players, said: ‘We came jere hoping to work out recognition of the NASL Players Association on a friendly basis. However, we are confronted by an em- ployer who is apparently determined to drag it out as long as possible.
