To the Editor; I was disappointed to hear that we in the northwest will not be able to watch the new CBC Newsworld channel through. CFTK cable television. While Canadian broadcasting history is being made, we are offered the American CNN channel, plus two Detroit channels. As a Canadian, my first con- cern is to know what is going on in my own country; CNN and Detroit have little concern about Canadian stories. I want Cana- dian news and world news from a Canadian perspective. If we all took a wait-and-see attitude, the Dr. Paul Clark, Mr, and Mrs. ° Dr. D. Fisher, Mrs. D. Ansems, Dr. D. If the new network turns out . to be near the quality of the Na- | __ tional, the Journal or other CBC - documentary and news pro- grams, then we will have a Teal winner. In regard to the so- )-called. poll done by CFTK through. its monthly billings, I was not polled. I support the new net-_ work and want it available through cable. ‘Jim Lamb,. Terrace. To the Editor; The Kitimat- Terrace & District Labour Council is ap- palled at the decision of Skeena Broadcasters to withhold the new CBC news network, News- world,. in favor of CNN, the - American news ‘channel. We have been unable to find any support amongst our 2,500 members for the American news channel to be aired in place of Newsworld. We already have a surplus of American news with two Detroit and one Seattle TV stations on cable. What we need is more quality journalism of the type of the Journal and CBC documentaries. We urge CFTK to get on the bandwagon and support Cana- dian news and Newsworld in particular, to the benefit of | Skeena area residents.
