Your coanunity may bic on all or any one of the 3 above-mentioned Games, however, the Games will be awarded to 3 different communities. In other words, you may send in 3 bids but you could cnly be successful on one. The first ever British Colurbia Sumne: Games were held in Penticton, August 17 to 20, with the response and Success of the Games clearly outstanding. Three trousand athletes comzeted in Penticton with about 39,000 athletes participating in the zone playdowns. Gndoubtedly, vou witnessed part of the television coverage from Penticton and now know more about the extent of the Games. Tne 1979 British Columbia Winter Games will be held in Kamloops an3 the 1579 British Columbia Summer Games have been awarced to Rictirond. Estimates show that between $90-100,000 British Columbians will become involved Guring the course of a year with the Games. Yeu will note in the enclosed guidelines that the Government of British Colurbia will provide $190,000.00 for the administration and operation of the Games. The 1930 British Columbia Winter Games are to be held in March 1980. The 1980 British Columbia Summer Games are to be held in August 1980. The 1981 British Columbia Winter Games are to be held in March 1981. -2- You will also note the Government of zritish Columbia provides a $70,050.06 legacy to each host co=nunity to thank the volunteers for their efforts. These funcés must be allocated to amateur sport.
