ITEM II - Continued We have now received a firm quotation from Honeywell for the amount of $1,657.00 to provide a sewer alarm panel and to connect it to existing sensing equipment in the pumping stations. The quotation does not include any unforeseen costs -resulting from problems with our own equipment. The large difference in cost between the system proposed by Honeywell and the system which had been designed by Dayton & Knight results from the need to change the sensing equipment in each pumping station under Dayton & Knight's proposal. , Use of the cheaper system as proposed by Honeywell will allow us to stay close to the budget of $3,000.00 after paying off Dayton & Knight's design fees. We therefore recommend the purchase of this cheaper system which will be sufficient fo- our needs. ITEM IIL Re: . Request by Delegation for Cul-de-sacing of Patricia Avenue The Public Works Cmmmittee considered the request of the delegation from the Westwood Parx Area to have Patricia .- Avenue stopped at Graham Street in order to prevent the cir- culation of traffic from Scott and Graham through Patricia. The Commitiee considered the fact that cul-de-sacs often create greater policing problems than through streets. Also it is desirable to have alternate access through an area. The Committee does not recommend the cul-de-sacing of Patricia Avenue. The delegation had also mentioned the need for emergency access to the river and the restriction of this area to four-wheel drive vehicles and motorcycles. It is not practical to restrict the area to motorcycles. However, part of the improvements which had been proposed included the installation of barrier posts similar to those which are around the Reeve Tennis Courts. These would be placed around the whole frontage of the tennis courts and entrance to the park with two removable posts left at the paved entrance to the park to be used by emergency vehicles. The concrete barrier across the path to the river could then be removed and the river would become accessible to emergency vehicles. Tt is still our intention to go ahead with this work when the question of what remaining work is to be done can be resolved by the Leisure Activities Committee. [3.00.
