Public Recreational Facilities Act

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative
Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows: ,

Interpretation’ 1. Inthis Act
“minister” means that member of the Executive Council charged by order of

the Lieutenant-Governor in Council with the administration of this Act:
“public.recreational facility” means a recreational tacility that is available to
any individual who wishes to use it tor its intended purpases.

Grants tor 2. (1) The minister may pay a grant to a municipality. regional district,
ceeuston or an organization approved by the minister, that will sponsor the renova-
tion, construction, or equipping of a public recreational taciliry.
(2) A grant under subsection (1) shall not exceed one-third of the cost of
the renovation, construction, ore equipping of the public recreational facility
or $400, 000, whic hever i is less. ‘

Grants for 3. (J) The minister may puy a grant to a municipality or regional district
planning for the purpose of preparation of a comprehensive plan for the provision ot
recreational facilities in the municipality or regional district.

(2) A grant under subsection (1) shail not exceed 33! ce per capita of the
population of the municipality or regional district. or $25,000 whichever is
less. .

Advisury 4. The minister may appoint a person or persons ty aulvise hon on
committee matters relating’ to this Act, and a.person so appointed may be paid his
reasonable and necessary travelling and out-of-pocket expenses incurred in
carrying out his duties. oO

Regulations S. The Lieutenant-Governor in Council may make regulations.
