TO: MAYOR AND ALDERMEN July 19th, 1972. FROM: THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE Report from the Planning and Zoning Committee Meeting held Wednesday, July 19th, 1972 at 1:00 p.m. “OTT NC Re: Green Belt Protection Fund. AUG H 4 1972 Comments: The Greater Vancouver Regional District has engaged Norm Pearson to study and prepare the criterion for submission on the use of Green Belt. Pro- tection Funds. The purpose of the meeting is to submit our proposals for the Green . Belt Protection Fund so that our complete catalog of areas to be kept as open or recreational areas can be processed in a unified submission. Meeting Comments: Due to the time problem a submission to the G.V.R.D. was required before July 3lst, 1972. Mr. N. Pearsonexplained the criterion for the G.V.R.D. submission were for land which either are part of the future G.V.R.D. Parks Green Belt or others, with unique features. N. Pearson pointed out that land that would normally be bought as parks acquisition for the City could not be considered in the G.V.R.D. submission. Therefore our priorities are: . 1) In establishing our criteria we felt that the Coquitlam River was our most outstanding priority. ; 2) The second priority where lands held privately in our proposed ‘Ecological Area, as we have already applied for those funds. Our third priority in applying for Green Belt funds from the G.V.R.D. would be privately held lands along the Pitt River - adjacent to Poco Trail. item If Re: Burger Construction Ltd., Comments: The letter received from Burger Construction requesting that his parcel be exempted from the zoning change of ‘all RM~1 and RM-2 land reverting to RS-1 and designated Development Area,' was discussed. After due discussion the Committee recommended that no exemption be granted due to the desirability of having all multiple construction take place under a Land Use Contract. Recommendation: The Planning and Zoning Committee recommends that the requested exemption not be granted. Item III Re: Proposed Seven Eleven Foods Store at the corner of Coast Meridian and Salisbury. Comments: A proposed site plan has been submitted showing rental units, gas station and store. The applicant has asked us to review the site plans and submit our recommendations to them so they may design their building. continued page 2
