EDITOR

Editor,
Thornhill News,

Teentown is for the teenagers,
and unfortunately teenagers seem
to have a poor memory. Out of 20
members who attended the last
teentown party, only four altend-
ed the meeting of which they had
been informed at the party.

The meeting was comprised of
five members, all boys, one of
whom had missed the party. Real-
izing that something must he done,
the five of them made a quorum
and a meeting was held. It was
decided that a plea should be made
to the parents.

Parents:

If your teenagers are already
members of our teentown please
try and help their memory by tak-
ing an interest in and asking ques-
tions about teentown. If your teen-
agers are not members and you
live anywhere in the Thornhill,
Old Airport Road area, we would
appreciate it if you would encour-
age them to join. Further infor-
mation may be obtained by phon-
ing Darold Swanson at VI 93-2613,
or Steven Scotton at V13-2832.

A social evening will be held at
the English residence on River
Road Friday evening, April 22. All
teenagers in the Thornhill area are
invited.

It was also decided that a car
wash would be held in the near
future to raise funds for our cen-
tennial project.

STEVEN SCOTTON,
Vice-president,
Thornhill Teen Town.

THE STATE OF QUEBEC 4

French Canada has become ¢

Of all the books and artic

ject Peter Desbarats’ book a
State of Quebec” appears to poir:
out the arguments for both sid
of the controversy in the most of
jective manner, 4

Because Peter Desbarata repriil
sents both English and Frenugig
Canada by birth, having becjay
born and educated in Montre‘i™
and having worked as a writer im
both eastern and western canad®
he is able to present the situaticlig
and its problems from both poin fas _
of view.

In “The State of Quebec” hg ‘|
points out the myths and fallacie _
expounded by both French al, aoe
English Canadlans. ay

He writes about the causes of
the present unrest in Quebec an¢|
points out possible trends to bee
expected in the future. He showsiy
what has already been accomplish-¥
ed by both French and English:
Canadians to heal the breach be.
tween our two cultures, but em-a%
phasis is placed on what still re-! .
mains to be done. ine

A better understanding of the4
aims and aspirations of both our
cultures should lead to at least 3M
a partial solution to the present#™
problem and Peter Desbarats'e
book “The State of Quebec” con-&
tributes greatly towards this goal.dm
