Much of the progress can be attributed to the input of our Office Manager, Janet Kidnie, who put in many hours of dedicated work on the newsletter, finances, and general operation of our office. Janet resigned at the end of December essentially because she needed selected from the Gallery of B.C, Ceramics and displayed in the foyer gallery of the U.B-C, Museum of Anthropology from January to April. Carol Mayer also installed an exhibition of student work from the Emily Carr College of Art and Design titled Echoes and based on student interpretations of historic pieces. This show ran in the College’s foyer gallery from April to September. The Museum of Anthropology her own life back and was looking for new challenges, We will miss her sorely. All of us who worked with her wish her the very best for the future. Thank you Janet, your tireless efforts will not be forgotten. Welcome to the new Manager- Anna Bjamason. Refreshments will be also agreed to sponsor a show of B.C. potters who have been influenced by oriental traditions for the Asia Pacific Society. The Guild is participating in the plans which are currently underway. GALLERY OF B.C, CERAMICS The Board has been monitoring Gallery revenue on an ongoing basis hoping to revert to the 4(/% sales commission. Profitability has 28. The show ran concurrently with the Craft Association of B.C.'s Made By Hand exhibition "The Pleasures of Making.” We are grateful to John Chalke who juried our show and to Carol Mayer for producing such and excellent fold-out catalogue with images and text. Congratulations also to the membership for responding so well to the call for entries - there were 72 entries, 56 pieces were actually submitted and 29 pieces were selected. The Exhibition Committee also organised a small show of earthenware titled Malolica’Majolica improved but this has been due to the increase in commission rather than an increase in sales. Strenwous efforts by the Marketing Committee were made to reverse the trend. A new sign and awning were installed to improve the Gallery’s visibility, the budget for advertising was increased, the Gallery participated in the Circle Craft Christmas Market with an information booth, small display and take away discount flyers for purchases at the Gallery and more publicity was sought through the Coffee Cups and Java Jugs event and prize draw.
