Give Vietnam voice in UN
urged by aid committee

The Canadian Aid for Vietnam
Civilians bulletin, recently mailed
to hundreds of supporters, reports
that the amount collected to date
by .the Vancouver-based com-
mittee to help the people of Viet-
nam has reached the total of
$325,000. The bulletin says the
committee’s aim is to raise half a
million dollars.

. Amajor portion of the bulletin is
devoted to a report of the visit to
Canada in September-October of
Mr. Truong Tan representing the
government of the Republic of
South Vietnam. In a cross-Canada
tour the Vietnamese represen-
tative visited 10 cities, had many
television interview and met with
senior government officials.

The bulletin outlines a resolution:

Toronto which calls on _ the
Canadian government to nor-
malize relations between Vietnam
and Canada, and urges that efforts
be made to extend economic aid
and credits. It asks that: the
Canadian government use its‘ in-
fluence to expedite the entry of the
government of South Vietnam into
the United Nations, and_ that
Canada urge the U.S. to withdraw
its policy of non-recognition and
remove its veto to the entry of

Vietnam in the UN.

The CAVC calls on its supporters

and the general public to send

letters to the Prime Minister in
support of the Toronto resolution
insisting that Vietnam be given a
voice in the UN.

The CAVC bulletin also reports
