SUBJECT: Purchase of Garbage Packer

RECOMMENDATION:

That Council approve the purchase of a 1985 International
Rear-load Garbage Packer from Berk's Intertruck at a total cost of
$86,533.77 out of the Equipment Reserve, . .

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: |

Council has allocated $110,000 for purchase of a new Garbage
Packer in the 1985 budget. Five independent tenders were received as
Shown on the attached recap sheet. Ail tenders offered either a
Dempster or Hiel body at a similar price and the only major variation
was in the type of truck being offered. We find the international |
truck offered by the lowest bidder to be acceptable and recommend the
acceptance of this offer. .
