BARKGROUND AND COMMENTS; The norma] budget approval! process which ands in May lgaves us little time for soma of the projects and early approval is alwavs important, However, tnis year we have tnrea specific situations which require early approval by Counci| in order for us to do an effective job, Tne ‘implamantation of new bus routas is to taka place in March of 1985, These new routes involve certain intersections wnich at Tne prasent time are unacceptable for buses. The raquired improvements include the extension of culverts as several intersections and the relocation of a Hydro pole. The intersections involved are Woodland at Westwood, Coast Meridian and Greenmount, and Wellington at Patricia. Uniess we get early approval for these wa would nat be able to have the work done Prior to the implementation of the new bus routas, The attached sheet Showing Equipment out of Reserve lists the vehicles wnich are required to be replaced in 1985. There is an urgency for the replacement of most of these. We do not have a working flail mower at this time and will not be able to carry out our spring program unless we are able to order immediately. A new yarbage packer takes 8 to 10 months to purchase and therefore needs To be purchased early. The Vector Control Officer's vehicla fs unusabls now due to mechanical condition and We Wilt need to rent until his unit fs replaced. The Pao} 30
