1648 Broadway Street, Port Coquitlam, B.C. July 13th, 1972. The Mayor and Aldermen, . City of Port Coquitilan, McAllister Street, Port Coquitlam, B.C. JUL 17 1972 Dear Sirs: You are all no doubt aware of Lake Hyacinthe and numerous other lakes in this vicinity, caused by excessive rainfall which the dike pumps cannot keep up with . Something else that doss not help is the big drainage ditch that runs along Proadway. We have lived here eleven years and that ditch has not teen cleaned out in all that time and Lord knows how many years before we came. It stands to reason that with all the water coming into that ditch year after year, soil is also getting in. Cutting out the brush, as was done earlier this year, is not cleaning out the ditch. Half of the south sida of Port Coquitlam is being drained via the drainage ditch across from our property and the more development there is, the worse gets. It is Long past time to install more pumps and to properly clean out that ditch and we hope that our city council will do more than just talk -- we'd like to see some concrete action and the sooner, the better, This ts the second time that our basement has been flooded due to excess rainfall and ours is not the only one that is flooded. And the aggravating part of it all is that it wouldn't happen if there were adequate pumping facilities installed. Yours very truly, Ko team — Loulg Hy&cinthe dnd Gladys “Ayacinthe
