OBITUARY
In loving memary of Jeffrey Herbert
Spalding, a husband, father, grand-
father, brother, uncle and friend, Jeff
was a long time employee of the
logging industry who enjoyed
the outdoors, He laved fishing
and exploring the Ecstall,
Skeena River and tributaries
P surrounding it.
Jeff was diagnosed with
cancer of the throat on
September 4, 1992. He
endured radiation treat-
ments and fought continu-
ously. Jeff died peacefully
on January 8, 1994 in Mills
. Memorial Hospital. Jeff is
survived by his wife Irene.
Children; Bon, Susan,
David and Jeanette,
Brothers: Vic and Ed,
Sisters: Nita, Dorothy and
Annabelle. His special
nephews and nieces as
#7 well as 10 grandchildren.

Onnolee passed away in
Kitimat on Jan, 10, 1994,
She was predeceased by
her husband Sam,
daughter Barb, sisters
Helen and Velma and
brother Larry.
survived by sister Mona
Thomas of Rossland, sons
‘Dr. JS. Kirkaldy and wife
Ann of Ancaster, Ont,
‘Lawrence (Bud) and wife
Pat of Terrace, and
daughter Jean Arsenault of
Sardis, BC, also survived
by 15 grandchildren and 9
great grandchildren.

The funeral service was
held at St Mathews
Anglican Church with Rev,
Dean Houghton officiating.
Internment took place in
the family plot in the

Saturday morning Jan. 15,

| Jean was born in Styre,
} Alberta just outside Vilna. The
| aldest of elght children followed
} by John, Wally, Stave, Harry,
} Annie, Alex, Mike and Sophie,
| Predeceased by her parents,

brothers John, Harry and Steve
also her husband Fred and
| grandson Buddy.

| - Jaan spent her early years in
! rural Alberta working at various
) jobs from driving truck delivering
|; raw milk to the dairy in Edmonton
H to farm hand ta moon shining.
| Fred found her racking balls in a
} pool hall In Pibreck, Alta. He
| proposed by mali fram Mayo,
1 NWT wondering if she wouldn't
“i mind putting her shoes under his
fl bed. They were married May 15,
H 1943 in Westlock, Alta, Frad and
| Jean had two sons and one
|. daughter Len, John and Victoria.

The family moved around
| Alberta settling In the Coal
| Branches around Gadomin, Alia,
| In 1957 the coal mines were
| closing and the family moved to
} Tertace, BC. Jean was a quiet
H hard working little woman who
| enjoyed -her family and friends.
With Fred's passing in 1988 Jean
moved to Terraceviaw. Here she
gathered sacond wind. She took
part in Terraceview's various play
trips. and activities. She enjoyed
| steak night at the Legion, lunch
|. at the Co-op and it's rumored,
i the . occasional romantic
| Interlude.

- Jean passed away Very gently
on December 28, 1993 at the
] age of 82, She sill be sadly.
| missed by thosa who knew and
| loved her, Many thanks to staff at

amended March 30, 1992, which
authorizes the discharge of refuse
and sewage wastes from the
communities of Terrace, Thornhill
and surrounding areas located at
Thornhill, B.C. to land.

The purpose of this

BEFORE:

Wastes shall be spread In thin layers
(60 centimetres or less) on the
working face and compacted. The
working face area shall be
minimized as much as possible. The
Permittee shall apply a minimum of
15 centimetres of cover soli to
compacted reluse at least once
every two days, The frequency of
covering may vary when freezing
condition adversely atfact normat
operation, Any area of the landfill
which will not racelva any more
refuse within the next 60 days shall
taceive an intermediate cover of at
least 30 cantimelies.

AFTER;

Wastes shall be disposed of in lifts
not to exceed 3 metres In height.
The working face shall be minimized
as much as possible. Wastes shall
be compacted along the working
face with heavy equipment pushing
Into the face, Wastes shall also be
compacted by applying a minimum
45 centimetres of soll caver ta the
surface of the lilt, every 2 days, and
by directing vehicular traffic over the
entire area. After 30 days, in areas
where subsequent lifts are to be
placed over existing cells, 15
centimetres of soll cover to the
surface of the lift, every 2 days, and
by directing vehicular traffic over the
