The bear is one of several which will be auctioned off next month to raise money for the BC Lions Society Easter Seal Opera- tions and other innitiatives. Jacquie Munson,*a member . of the Spirit Bears in the City committee and co-owner of the Northern Motor Inn, said the idea for the bear’s design arose as: a. way to: honour -forest industry _ workers. “We wanted it to be a tribute , _ to forestry and the foresters,” she said. “You know most people have been overwhelmed with it. It’s ‘amazing.” ; Munson collected photos from the historical archives and fami- lies of foresters, scanned them digitally and printed copies on special laser transfer paper. Artist Joe Mandur Jr. decid- _ed.where to put each photo and used glue to create a collage on : the bear. It was then sealed with a glossy finish to protect the Pic- tures.
