Ok ok One day a very worried looking man knocked at Mrs. Brown’s door. “I’m terribly sorry,” he said. “I’ve run over your cat, I’d like to re- place it.” “Well,” said Mrs. New Labour Council Trade unionists in New Westminster and surrounding districts have won a signal victory in their bid to set up a new labour council. Word has been received that the Canadian Labour Congress has approved the establish- ment of a council for the area and will issue soon the neces- sary charter. The new Council will have a membership potential of ap- proximately 16,000, and will serve the areas of New West- minster, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Surrey, Delta, and the Fraser Valley to Hope. The drive for the new la- bour council was spearhead- ed by Wyman Trineer, Presi- dent of Local 1-357 IWA, fol- lowing the Local Union's dis- affiliation from the Vancou- ver Labour Council three years ago. Trineer stated the reason for wanting a new council was simply a matter of geo- graphy: New Westminster and the Valley members had to drive too far to attend the Vancouver meetings. He also said that the problems of the unionists in these out-lying areas could better be served by such a council. Brown doubtfully, “it’s all ‘right with me. But can you catch mice?” * * * Big Sister: Pll help you with your arithmetic. Now, if I had 10 oranges and gave you 2, how many would I have left? Tommy: I don’t know. In my class we do arithmetic with apples. WITh the | (AG lightweight big power chain saw more power...high speed ds cutting and perfect balance , for greater production in any professional area.
