OW times have changed? A few
years back they used to be

described as the Hitler “U-boat
wolf-pack”. Now we laud the
_ launching of the first of a new
West German submarine “wolf:
pack” at Kiel last week as an “ad-
dition to the strength of the free
world.”

This West German “U-1” christ-
ened the “Kretschmer” was launch-
ed by the wife of Nazi wolf pack
commander, Captain Otto Kretsch-
mer, described as “an undersea
expert” and who holds the “hon-
our” of sinking 42 Allied ships
during the last war, a total of some
250,000 tons of shipping. Nazi
Kretschner now commands the
West German amphibious forces.

“Free World” naval experts de-
scribe Adenauer’s “U-1” as a “tech-
nical sensation”, capable of far
outstripping its nazi predecessors
in ravaging shipping on the high
seas.

FROM the turn of the century

down to the 40’s it was cus-
tomary in Chinese communities
across Canada at the end of an
eight-year period to exhume the
bones of their dead and ship them
back to their China homeland for
re-burial.

Not that it makes much dif-
ference, (to the bones, that is), but
it was rather a fine Chinese cus-
tom, showing a deep devotion to
their ancestors and a deep love of
their native earth.

A ceremony took place a couple
of weeks ago in Victoria for the
re-interment of the bones of some
849 Chinese, which the Canadian
Press flashed across the country
as being originally destined for
shipment to China in 1946, “had

son, a veteran legal beagle for big
monopoly, now eagerly thumbing
his way through musty legal tomes:
in search of avenues whereby the
B.C. Power Corporation ¢an have
its “day in court” to put another.

insurance and financial moguls,
putting pressure on the B.C. gov-
ernment. and, telling it just how
government must be conducted in,

In a letter to Premier Bennett,
(with copies sent to all Canadian
investment bankers) this U.S.
financial institution which claims
a $250 million “investment” in
Canada, declared that since the
BCE “take-over”, its “faith” in our
legal and political institutions “has
been shaken by the manner in
which the government has exprop-
riated the Electric Company, and
we cannot reconcile it with the
conduct to be expected from a re-
sponsible government.”

Communist Crusade School” in the
