March 11, 1992/067 A special meeting of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of The City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, B.G. on Wednesday, March 11th, 1992, at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay and Aldermen M.D. Gates, M.J. Gordon, J.J. Keryluk, RH. Talbot, M.A. Thompson and MR. Wright were in attendance. Also in attendance were City Clerk and Deputy Administrator R.A. Freeman, city Engineer I. Zahynacz, and Fire Chief Jon Baillie. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay advised that the purpose of the meeting this evening was to discuss the traffic situation in that area of the City lying north of the Lougheed Highway, west of the Coquitlam River, and east of Westwood Street. A general discussion with persons in attendance at the meeting then ensued. Moved by Alderman Talbot: That Murchie Avenue be barricaded at Patricia Avenue. Lost for want of a seconder. Moved by Alderman Gordon: Geconded by Alderman Talbot: That the traffic barrier at Kitchener and Woodland te removed and that other items under discussion be referred to discussion at a Committee meeting with representatives of the affected areas in attendance. Defeated. Aldermen Gordon and Talbot voted in favor of the resolution. Moved by Alderman Thompson: That the traffic barrier at Kitchener and Woodland be removed; that a four way stop be installed at Hastings and Kitchener; and that no right turns be permitted off the Lougheed Highway from Hastings west to the entramce to Poco Place Mall. Lost for want of a seconder. Moved by Alderman Gates: Seconded by Alderman Wright: That the traffic barrier at Kitchener and Woodland be removed; that stop signs be installed all along Patricia and Hastings; and that no right turns be permitted off the Lougheed Highway from Hastings west to the entrance to Poco Place Mall.
