THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: City Administrator January 8, 1987 FROM: City Engineer SUBJECT: Lane Closure Request at Pitt River Road East of Mary Hill Road = Public Works Committee January 6, 1987 Recommendation: That the !ane east of Mary Hil! Road be closed just south of Pitt River Road at the location shown on the attached sketch. Background and Comments: The portion of lane adjacent to lot 7 on the attached sketch directly serves only 3 homes but it is also used as a shortcut between Pitt River Road and Western Drive. This portion of tane is in very poor sondition and also jis bulit partly on tot 7. The owner of lot 7 wishes to put a fence along the property line but, in so doing, would cut off about half of the lanee The remaining width would make it very difficult for vehicles to use on a regular basis if there was any volume of traffic. Letters have been sent to al! property owners in the area circled-on the attached sketch as these property owners would be expected to have some legitimate use of the lane. Only one owner, shown by an "X" on the attached sketch, expressed an objection to the lane closure. Two comments were received in favour of the closure and the remainder did not bother to reply. Closure of the lane at Pitt River Road would not affect the garbage collection as our vehicles do not use the Pitt River Road entrance. Circulation in the lane would still be good as it has two outlets, one on Western Drive and the other on Penny Places Cs i pbk Peters, P. & City Engineer FEP:jih attachment.
