Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Capital Expenditures in the Water Utility ~ Public Works Committee ~- August 10, 1982 RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve the Following three priority projects to be done out of the $180,060 of Unallocated Funds in the Water Utility Capital Budget: 1. Upgreding of the 100 mm watermain on Victoria Drive to 200 mm at an estimated cost of $60,000. Installation of a 150 mm diameter pressure reducing valve at the Lions Park PRV Chamber at an estimated cost of $8,000. Installation of automatic controls and pressure transmission equipment at Penny Place pump station at an estimated cost of $11,000. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS The approved Capital Budget for the Water Utility includes the sum of $180,000 which was provided for an upgrading program for watermains at locations to be approved by Council during the year. At the time that the Budget was prepared we were not in a position to be able to recommend priorities for Capital Works in the Water Utility. We have now done some preliminary work and have been able to identify three priority projects which, in total, are estimated to cost about $79,000 leaving $101,000 still unallocated. ‘ yee
