Comm. report — Sun Valley Park and agked that this item be placed on the agenda for Fire Truck in Sun Valley Pk. - deferred to May 26/80 Council Moved by Alderman Trabuulay: mtg. open Council. Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That Item I of the Parks & Recreation Committee's report for Committee regarding the fire truck located in Sun Valley Park be placed on the Council Agenda for the regular meeting of May 26th, 1980. Carried. BY-LAWS: The City Clerk advised the next item on the Agenda is the "City of No. 1749 - City of Pt.Coq. Port Coquitlam Sign By-law, 1979, No. 1661 Amendment By-law, No. 1749" Sign B/L, 1979, No. 1661 Amend. which was prepared as a proposed Sign By-law revision to permit flashing B/L, 1980 - (Revised Sign B/L signs in certain areas in the City. The City Clerk advised the proposed by-law to allow any sign erected on property fronting on the Lougheed Highway or on Shaughnessy Street to flash providing the property on which the sign is erected is zoned for a Commercial use was advertised in the local newspapers and the replies received are in the Agenda. Alderman Ranger suggested that discussion be tabled until Alderman Mabbett returns from vacation but it was the general opinion of the Council that discussion should Proceed. Mr. E. Nikolopoulos, owner of the Casa Roma Restaurant encouraged Council to proceed and requested that approval be given to a sign he wished to erect and referred to a picture of it on display. Alderman Keryluk spoke in favour of the design of the proposed new sign for the Casa Roma Restaurant. Alderman Wright asked for clarification on whether the discussion was for the approval of a sign application or a revision to the Sign By- law and Mayor Laking advised the approval of the proposed sign would necessitate a revision in the Sign By-law. Alderman Keryluk referred to the letters received concerning the proposed revision of the Sign By-law and stated he was in Favour of the by-law revision and did not agree with some of the comments against the Best Western Hotel sign and the statement mentioned that the City be kept in the "rural aspect". Alderman Keryluk stated in his opinion animated signs would make the downtown area more attractive.
