Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Laking
expressed concern that the programme would be taking away a source of
revenue from groups such as the Boy Scouts Association; however, it was
pointed out that anyone wishing to continue to save newsprint for collection lan
by such local groups could do so.

That an application be made to the Greater Vancouver Regional
District for the $5,000.00 grant previously offered to the City for the

purpose of undertaking a pilot newsprint recycling programme.
