C NOV 8 197 ’ Mayor and Council November 5th, 1976 L.D. Pollock City Administrator 1. Swimming Pool Repairs For the information of Council and the Public I would like to give a brief status report on the condition of the Hyde Creek Swimming Pool. As Council is aware, a leak developed in the Hyde Creek Pool this Spring that was considerably in excess of the maximum permissible loss from a pool such as.this. The pool was operated until the end of the swimming season and then, during the summer shut-down, the Contractor undertook remedial work to try and correct the leak. First attempts reduced the leak considerably, however, it was still not within acceptable limits as determined by the Architects. The decision was made to not open the pool and have the Contractor complete the necessary repairs during the warrantee period. There has been some delay due to legal complications in trying to determine the exact responsibilities of the Contractor, however, Rossi Construction is in the process of completing the repairs and it is hoped that the action presently being taken will permanently repair the problem which appears to be in the seal joints between the wall and the floor of the pool. . The Contractor advises that opening up the joint and resealing will be concluded in the next three or four days, however, the cement work (which will follow) will require three to four weeks to set before the pool can be filled again. It would appear that it will be a month to six weeks before the pool will be in use again and this is, of course, providing the present Yepairs cure the problem. I will keep Council informed as to the progress of these repairs. 2. B.C.I.T. Course ~— Evidence and Court Procedures B.C.1.T. have recently introduced a new course for anyone involved in Court procedures and our By-law Enforcement Officer has requested authority to attend. The Course is a five day workshop at B.C.1.T. and an outline of the course is attached. The fee for the course is $200.00 per student and there would be no accommodation required, however, the course is conducted during working hours. I would like to see Mr. Criggie attend this course and would recommend that Council authorize his attendance. 3. G.V.R.D. Labour Negotiations . Council has had discussions in the past on the ‘City participating in the Labour Negotiations function of the G.V.R.D.
