Detachment, and Alderman Ranger agreed to his request to ascertain and advise them of the time they had to be at the Arena for this event. Alderman Traboulay referred to the acts of vandalism last year caused by the graduating students painting up the City, and Mayor Campbell agreed to his suggestion that as Chairman of the Public Relations Committee, he meet with the Principal, Mr. J. Gowans, and the 1976 graduating class of the Port Coquitlam Senior Secondary School and apprise them, possibly through a series of lectures on municipal taxation, on the cost of such acts of vandalism. Alderman Traboulay referred to a report from the Canadian Federation of Mayors & Municipalities on the 1976 Conference to be held in Vancouver, and Mayor Campbell agreed to his suggestion that. as there are a number of topics of interest to the Council, as many members as can do so, attend the Conference. Alderman Traboulay then referred to a tabled motion from the September 8th, 1975 meeting of Council that the Agricultural Hall be demolished, and Alderman Keryluk advised that he has a report thereon from the City Engineer that will be reviewed shortly. Alderman Traboulay referred to the City's offer to the Provincial Government to take some of its surplus seedling trees being accepted, and he stated he was pleased to see that at last a place has been found in Port Coquitlam to have a nursery. Alderman Mabbett referred to students continually pushing barricades and signs into ditches, etc., while construction work is underway on Laurier Avenue, and he suggested that a letter be sent to the Principal of George Pearkes Junior Secondary School requesting that he try and prevail upon the students to keep in mind the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and others by leaving these Signs and barricades alone. Alderman Keryluk pointed out that a letter has already been sent and the students have been spoken to; however, as there is only one lane open on that section of Laurier Avenue and no sidewalk available for them to walk on, this type of situation is bound to happen. Alderman Laking ex~ pressed concern that if an accident occurs because the barricades have been taken down, the City may find itself responsible, and Alderman Mabbett further suggested that the Principal and teachers should see that the students put back in place any barricades and signs they have knocked over or moved.
