TERRACE — On May (23° Rose and Oscar. Farkvam, long-standing residents of Terrace, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. by David Farkvam Terrace Contributor Events such as the ar- rival of Oscar’s brother Peter, and sisters Ester, Oddbjorg and Anna, on May 14, from. Norway, highlighted the start of the festivities. Oscar had not seen his brother and sisters in 58 years. Peter was accom- panied by his wife Mitra. Oddbjorg and Ester were escorted by their - husbands, Martin and Einer. For the two days which preceded the day of celebration, relatives from all areas of Canada congregated in the town of Terrace. There was a lot of preparation in- ‘Karen, Families reunited — volved which was carried out primarily by Oscar and Rose’s children Selma, Sandy, Lin, Ted, Fred, and ali their families. The reunion party was made up of approx- imately 220 people. A - dinner was held in the banquet room of the Terrace arena and a dance followed with Rose and Oscar leading to a melody orchestrated by the Mothballs, One of the more memorable highlights of the evening ‘was the sound of glass tinkling as ,the guests tried to persuade Oscar to embrace his wife. The post of master of ceremonies was held by two family members, Corbin King and Jhon Olson who provided an entertaining look at the past and present of Rose and Oscar’s lives together. This rekindled fond memories for many t of those present. People such as Tom Olson, Ken Kerr and Adam Milne spoke of good times with old friends. The dance carried on for most of the morning of May 17. .This was followed by a dinner at the Ukrainian Hall at ap- proximately 2 p.m. All the guests again were in- vited to join in the festivities. Due to the enormous participation the evening before, many of the guests were not up to a late evening. Therefore the dinner wrapped up fairly early in the even- ing. The following day, a large breakfast was held at Selma and Alan Ken- nedy’s. By this time, life had revived itself in the: wedding party and the breakfast carried on un- til 11 p.m. that evening. With such a large family, it was sad to see them go since it is difficult to br- ing them altogether.
