The village entry won the best theme award with a display of native dances performed to the music of drums and q . chanting. Cheryl Lapointe was crowned Miss Kitimat 1979 at the Queen's Ball Friday. Lapointe, 16, was the Rotary Club's candidate for the award. Teressa Tooth, spon- . sored by the Kitimat Works (Sports Association, was chosen First Princess. Lapointe also won the - talent contest and tied Congeniality award. The Miss Bakeoff contest was won by the Luso Canadian Club candidate Fatima Da Silva. Contest judges Mayor George Thom, Rick Wozney and Irja Jusstila chose Lapointe over other . candidates on the basis of . poise, talent and neat- ness.
