THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM TO: B.R. Kirk DATE: October 28, 1993 City Administrator FROM: LR. Zahynacz, P. Eng., . FILE: PWC City Engineer SUBJECT: PROPOSED STURM SEWER EXTENSION - FREMONT STREET (Public Works Committee Meeting of October 27, 1993) RECOMMENDATION: That Council award the installation of 30 metres of 900 mm diameter storm sewer on Fremont Street from Handley Crescent to 30 metres south as shown on the attached Plan 1 to Beaverdale Construction Ltd. at a cost of $16,852.50 (including G.S.T.). BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: The developer of the new subdivision at 751 Prairie Avenue has installed a new storm sewer on Fremont Street from Prairie Avenue to 30 metres south of Handley Crescent. Also, there is an existing storm sewer on Fremont Street from Handley Crescent going north. It is proposed to enclose the remaining 30 metres of drainage ditch with a 900 mm diameter storm sewer as shown on the attached Plan 1. Beaverdale Construction Ltd. who is the contractor for the subdivider of the property at 751 Prairie Avenue is willing to complete the storm sewer work as shown in the attached quote dated October 13, 1993 based on a total cost (including G.S.T.) of $16,852.50. There are not sufficient funds in the 1993 Special Public Works Capital Reserve for this purpose. There has been a major cost savings in the re-design of the 1993 Laurier/Devon ditch project, which is now expected to cost approximately $30,000 rather than $50,000. It is proposed to allocate $16,852.50 from the $50,000 set aside for the upgrade of the Laurier/Devon ditch. of Ah tL?
