March 11, 1976. REPORT MAR 15 1976 TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL FROM: LEISURE ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE The City Council in 1975 adopted a proposal for subsidization of Parks and Recrea- tion. Et was agreed at that time that park and field facilities would be subsidi- zed 100%, outdoor pool facilities by 75% and indoor facilities by 50%. Under this proposal it is essential to examine the year's provisional budget for our indoor facilities. It should be noted that at a later date the outdoor poolbudget will be. examined with necessary recommendations coming to City Council. PORT RECREATION CENTRE 1976 Provisional Budget Figures Expenditures $374,250.00 Revenues 125,950.00 (based on 1975 rates) Subsidy % 662 In order to bring this subsidy to 50% it will be necessary to increase all user charges and rental charges by 16%. Therefore, the Leisure Activities Committee would like to make the following recommendations for Councils’ consideration: LACROSSE RATES 1975 Rate 16Z Increase Recommendation Minor Lacrosse $3.50 | 56 $4.00 Junior "B" 4.00 66 4.65 Junior “AY 4.50 72 5.20 Senior "B" & "Cc" 6.00 for practice 95 7.00 25.00 for game 4.00 29.00 Senior "A" 10.00 for practice 1.50 10.50 100.00 for game 16.00 116.00 In the 1974 season an intermediate team was formed but was not continued in 1975. However, this year a new intermediate team has been formed and the Leisure Activities Committee recommends that they be charged the same rental as minor lacrosse; that of $4.00. The committee feels that any higher rate may cause some financial hardships on this team. Cont'd pg 2 asece
