Environmental Protection Committee

Re: Extra S.P.C.A. Patrol -— 1976

In the last two years, Cuuncil has authorized the cost of one man and a
vehicle for extra patrols for the S.P.C.A. for the months of April through
to September. The Environmental Protection Committee would recommend to
Council that similar provision be made this year and would ask that an
amount of $8,500.00 be approved at this time to enable the S.P.C.A. to

make arrangements to fill such a position. The Committee feels that the
extra patrol has been effective in controlling dogs running at large as

the extra patrols have always operated in the early morning or evening or

on weekends, i.e. during times when normal S.P.C.A. patrols are not provided.
