of the work involved. Alderman Ranger inquired whether the sum of

$5,000.00 would provide for removal of the present surface and installing

a proper base for the blacktopping and the City Engineer advised he did
not know what the District's plans were in this regard. Alderman Keryluk
suggested that the matter be left in abeyance until all members of
Council are present; however, Alderman Mabbett pointed out that the
District of Coquitlam intends to proceed with the work this month, and

Mayor Campbell may not be back in time.

Moved by Alderman Laking:

Seconded by Alderman Keryluk:

That the proposai of the City to flusncoat its half of Victoria
Drive be reconsidered and that it be agreed to blacktop the surface
instead on a shared basis with the District of Coquitlam.

Prior to the question being called on the foregoing proposed resolution,
and Alderman Laking stated his view that if two Councils cannot work out
an agreement on border roads, it is a very sad situation and Alderman
Keryluk pointed out that Mayor Campbell had indicated his desire to have
the City's decision to flushcoat reconsidered. Acting-Mayor Alderman
Traboulay commented that the City has not yet received an official
request from the District to share in the cost of blacktopping Victoria
Drive, and stated his view that the matter should be held in abeyance
for a week until more details are available. Alderman Laking stated his
understanding that the residents don't really care what kind of surface
is instalied as long as it is one type - either flushcoating or asphalt.
The City Clerk advised that from a procedural point-of view, the resolution
was a motion to rescind the Council's previous decision, and Acting-
Mayor Alderman Traboulay ruled to accept the proposal of Alderman Laking
as a Notice of Motion to be submitted at the next Council meeting.
