“FOOD” IS NO JOKE

Some practical joke “foods” have become so realistic that
they can fool your eyes and taste buds and perhaps kill you.
In West Germany, recently, a man died after eating what he
thought was a piece of Emmenthaler cheese. Actually it was
plastic “cheese” sold in a joke shop. It was made of a soft
substance that looked, felt and even tasted like the real thing.

,But once the plastic entered the digestive system, it became

erystal-hard. This death was the second caused by the plastic
in West Germany this year.
The “cheese” is thought to be imported from Japan and
may also be available in the United States.

SEAT BELT TROUBLE?

Here’s an easy way to keep your seat belt from getting
caught in the car door: Sew a length of heavy-weight, stretched
elastic tape to the underside of the belts for about 12 to 15
inches from the floor hardware end. The elastic will pull the
belt down and back, helping keep the buckles from catching
in the door. The bunched effect of the belt will also keep the

belt from working back under the seat.

SHOOTERS, COVER YOUR EYES!

When firing a gun, everyone should wear special safety
glasses to protect his eyes from injury, warns the National
Rifle Association. Certain defects in a gun can cause it to spit
hot gas back toward a shooter’s eyes or in rare instances a
gun barrel can explode in a shooter’s face. Persons who have
suffered such accidents while wearing protective glasses have
had their sight saved, reports NRA.

You can wear ordinary safety glasses (the type used by
industrial workers) that contain lenses made of tempered
glass that won’t shatter under high temperatures or impacts.
You can also get the larger, special, shooting glasses. These,
too, come in safety glass and cover a wider angle around the

eyes, says NRA.
