CONSTITUTION AMENDMENTS IWA Changes to the regional constitution were adopted by the regional convention. Amendments to the regional constitution adopted by convention action shall not be finalized until 60 days from the closing of the convention on October 1. The proposed changes are now published in the Lumber Worker and copies of changes have been sent to each local union, Any time within this specified 60-day period, the mem- bership through their local unions may petition the regional secretary-treasurer to initiate a referendum on any amend- ment adopted by convention action. If the regional secretary-treasurer receives a number of petitions representative of one-third of the total regional council membership, he shall proceed with the referendum within 10 days following the 60-day period. The following constitutional provisions were adopted by the convention. : WAGES AND EXPENSE ALLOWANCES That Article VII, Section (1) (a) be amended to read: “The salary of the Regional Director shall be $210 per week. The salary of the Regional Secretary- Treasurer shall be $195 per week. Full time Vice- presidents shall receive $185 per week.” REGIONAL SAFETY COUNCIL That Article XII of the Regional Constitution be amend- ed to read as follows: “(a) The constituted Officers of the Regional Safety Council shall be: (i) Chairman. (ii) First Vice-Chairman. (iii) Second Vice- Chairman. (iv) Third Vice-Chairman. (v) Secretary. “(b) The delegates to Regional Delegated Safety Conferences shall be elected by and from the the Local Unions, with the exception that all Regional Safety Council Officers and Local Union Safety Directors shall be duly accredit- ed delegates to the Conferences. ““(c) Representatives to the Conferences shall be on the following basis: “In addition to the elected Officers of the Safety Council and Local Union Safety Directors, each Local Union shall be entitled to one (1) delegate for the first one thousand (1,000) members or fraction thereof, and one (1) additional delegate for each one thousand (1,000) mem- bers thereafter or major fraction thereof. *(d) In addition to the representation set out in (c), each Local Union shall be entitled to one (1) Local Union Officer with voice and vote. ““(e) The function of the Regional Safety Council shall be to make recommendations on matters of safety to the Regional Executive Board or Regional Conventions. All actions of the Safety Council shall be sub- ject to the approval of the Regional Execu- tive Board or Regional Conventions.
