i refer to your request of June 6, 1989, for Fish and ;
Wildlife Management's Position regarding the 15 m dyke

setback through city-ovned property on the right bank of

Che Coquitlam River Just upstream of the City-District

boundary. . -

I concur with the position that the Department of
Fisheries and Oceans have Stipulated in their correspon-~
dence regarding this project. We have been requiring the
15 m and 30 m green strip for résidential and industrial
development respectively ever since the DFO guidelines
were published in 1978.

It has been our experience over the 11 Years we have been
uSing the DFO green strip guidelines, that they are ap-
propriate and ag such Chey do provide a reasonable degree
