Background & Comments: The Committee met with Bill and Deddi West from 1171 Castle Crescent and Kevin Smith from Genstar on February i7th, 1987. At this meeting Bill and Deddi West brought forth several of their concerns in regard to the two oak trees which are located in the island in the cul-de-sac in front of their house. a) Oak trees would grow too tall and would block their view. b) Indicated that other residents did not like the oak trees. c) When they purchased the property, the island had not been planted and they had chosen the site because of the view. d) Concern that the roots would eventually break the pavement. Kevin Smith made the following points: a) All the islands are planted with similar vegetation. b) He has the fear that if we remove the oak trees on this island, we may be faced with removing others due to the fact that resi-~ dents feel it blocks their views. c) Pointed out that if the owners in front of the West's wished to plant a tall tree, that they could not stop this happening. /2. 6
