V3C 2A8 Dear Mayor Traboulay: RE: HOMEMAKER/HOME SUPPORT WORKER WEEK ~ OCTOBER 19-25, 1986 We are extremely pleased to learn of your decision to offer special recognition by way of proclaiming October 19-25, 1986 Homemaker/Home Support Worker Week. This initiative, sponsored by City Council, will “undoubtedly create greater public awareness of the importance and need for adequate levels of home support services. We are also expecting all municipal districts throughout Canada to issue similar civic proclamations. In meeting with you earlier ! asked if upon reading the proclamation at your Council Meeting October 20, 1986, you could present the Certificate to our selected homemaker, Beverley Edward, it would permit us to take pictures to use as further publicity. There will ne other Homemakers and Board members present as well. As you had mailed us the proclamation, we are returning it to you for presentation at the meeting. As this week has been designated for the recognition of the dedication of 130 Home Support Workers in our Agency a social has been planned for Thursday, October 23rd. We extend an invitation to you or a representa- tive to attend our dinner at 7:00 p.m., Knox Presbyterian Church Hall, Sherbrooke & East Columbia Street, New Westminster. Of course, we would appreciate some comments from the City Council. Thank you for your interest in this matter, and | hope that we can work ‘together to make October 19-25th a memorable week for all those home support workers who provide such a tremendous service for the elderly, disabled residents and those in family crisis situations in the Simon Fraser Health Unit area.
