_ THE “CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: B. Kirk, February 25, City Administrator FROM: P.LE. Peters, City Engineer SUBJECT: Traffic Volumes on Tobb Avenue RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve the installation of "No Left Turn At Any Time" signs on Shaughnessy Street north of Lobb Avenue and on Mary Hill Road south of Lobb Avenue for a three month period only with the signs to be removed at the end of the three months. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: Subsequent to the recommendation by the Public Works Committee to Council at a previous meeting, Council requested the Engineer to conduct traffic counts on Lobb Avenue. We have attempted to obtain a count on three successive occasions and have not been successful in obtaining a full day's count due to problems with our ancient traffic counters. However, we were able to obtain counts for short periods of time and the most Significant count shows a volume of 115 vehicles in the two nour peak from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. On Tuesday, Februarv 23, 1982, The highest hour between 3:00 D.m. and 8:00 p.m. was 66 vehicles between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. which works out to slightly more than one per minute. Based on normal traffic patterns this would work out to approximately 660 vehicies per day. The normal interpretation of this volume of traffic would be considered to be very light. A delegation consisting of Mr. Schubert, Mr. Sundberg, Mr. Brett, and Mr. Bool attended the Public Works Meeting. The Gelegation requested that Council consider acain the possibility of installing "No Left Turn" signs.
