THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM ITEM IV - Continued Our future projections for water to the industrial area as well as south Mary Will indicate that a 24-inch diameter watermain would be required into the area when the area is fully developed. As the relocation of the watermain involves a crossing of the CPR Tracks, it would be to our advantage to build the 24-inch main at this time instead of the 12-inch main. Our cost then would be only the cost of the oversizing rather than the total cost of installation, We estimate that the cost of oversizing will be about $45;000 to $55,000 compared to an overall cost of about $150,000. The Committee recommends that up to $55,000 be allocated from the Water Capital Reserve to allow the construction of an oversize pipe at this time. The reserve currently has about $230,000 remaining in it. the cost of this 24~inch main has been included in the development cost charge rates and will therefore eventually be recovered as industry develops. ’ A quick decision on this is requested as it will be necessary for us to construct the watermain in June or July in order to meet the schedule requirement for the Mary Hill By-Pass construction. Respectfully submitted, F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer.
