A play gym located behind the school was covered in white paint on November 27. Police are asking for your hetp to find the van- dals. In the first incident, windows were broken. Brush clearing begins SKEENA HIGHWAYS District will be spending $80,000 to clear brush along highways around Ter- race in the weeks to come. The project will im- prove visibility along curves and intersections and help reduce collisions with wildlife. Brushing will take place on Highway 16 west between Kasiks and Tyee Rivers and 49km east of Terrace. The intersection of Highway 37 south and Waterlily Bay road as well as Kalum Lake Drive to the Little Cedar Bridge wilt also be included in this year’s initiative. The jobless rate for No- vember was 11.6 per cent, making the northwest the only region apart from the . -Kootenays in double digits. The rate dropped from 12,4 per cent in October. , Unemployment here spiked up in the summer after bottoming out around 7 per cent in the spring. The late summer and fall saw the northwest ex- perience three consecutive months of more than 12 per cent unemployment. Federal employment analyst. Karen Wienberg said the stats do carry a bit of a silver lining, That’s because the number of people in the labour force — that’s both people who are employed and those unemployed but looking for work — is up.
