POUND FEES LEFT OFF RELEASE

Last Monday afternoon things liv-
ened up in tewn when Geo. Gregory
cime in from the new “pound. During
the previous evening a citizen ‘had a
visit from two heifers and he drove
them to the pound. George put up
the necessary notices and awaited the
arrival of the owner, The owner got
u-release from the village clerk, and it
huppened that no.mention was made
of- fees for the pound keeper. That
did not meet the ideas of the pound-
kecper and there was something do-
ing, but in due course everything was
straightened out and the and everyone
was happy again.

STORY OF A GOOSE HUNT

T's wondertal haw news leaks out.

Some weeks ago & local nimrod wen
out ta Rosswood for the week end and
came back to town with a glowing ae-
count of his hunt. We had a goose
and a lrace of ducks to show for it,
so it wis aul hunky dorey as far as
hearers went. Today George Bills
drifted? in from his Rosswood rauch.
He told the vest of the tale, The Ter-
race mn during his morning seont,
knocked down a goose, Said goose
awit ashore and hid in the bush. He
then hit a couple of ducks, They also
fook to the jungle. A few hours later
George Billa met the disconsolate
hunter and listened to his tale of woe.
George found out where the birds had
landed, went home and got his gum
huots, also his cocker spaniel. He got
to the place where the goose landed
and turned his dog Joose and it was
not long before the goose apperred in
the apon. The goose renched the wat-
er with the dog after it. They had a
merry scrap and -the dog was knocked
con-cn0 hy a slap from the pooge's
wing. George’ put a shot in; the, bird
and the deg dragged it ashore. Then
the dag and his owner turned their.
attention: to ‘the: ducks and .-the dog}
soon tind thé birds.” The three birds |
were turned over to the Terrace man
and the. Rosswond rancher went home

fooling like a Boy Seout-hts road deed

for the cay done:- So that’s thet,
