FROM: J. Maitland,
City Treasurer.

SUBJECT: Vehicle for Community Co-ordinator.

RECOMMENDATION:

That a new vehicle be purchased for the Community Co-ordinator with the
expected costs of $12,000 to come from our Equipment Replacement Reserve.

BACKGROUND &- COMMENTS

The present vehicle is a 1980 Ford Fairmont (125,000 km used) which is
in present need of a new or rebuilt engine at the approximate cost of
$1,300. It is also expected that the vehicle will require work on the
transmission, the radiator and will also need new tires in the near
future.

Monthly rental charges for this piece of equipment are charged to the
community coordinators account and are shared with the Distric t of
Coquitlam picking up the major share (approximately 67%).

We have in the past provided for a mid-sized vehicle for this position
and it is recommended again. °

This vehicle did not appear on our. list of replacements this year as it

had not come in for any work for some time and was not considered to be

in bad condition, it was brought in recently and is in need of the above
mentioned repairs or preferably replacement.
